Course Summary
This course provides an overview of the energy transition through different parts of the value chain. We’ll cover the drivers for change, including policy incentives and mandates. The course will review how different end-user sectors could potentially transition away from the use of hydrocarbons, including the transportation sector, power generation, and heating for buildings. Finally, we’ll cover the key barriers to achieving change, including cost, sourcing of raw materials, and infrastructure development.
Course Content
You will learn to:
- Identify the factors driving the energy transition
- Distinguish between the different solutions for powering transportation by road, rail, sea and air
- Point out how the sources of power generation are changing
- Recognize the new methods of heating homes and other buildings
- Identify how other end-user sectors are transitioning away from the use of hydrocarbons
- Recognize the barriers to change, and the possible roadmap for the energy transition
Practice exercises and self-assessment quizzes are included to help reinforce key topics introduced throughout the course.
A comprehensive final test will be given at the end of the course.
