Combined Cycle Power Generation (ON-DEMAND) - CCPG
Course Summary
Combined Cycle Power Generation is an efficient and advanced form of electric power generation where waste heat exhaust produced from one or more combustion turbines is captured and used to create steam which is then supplied to an associated steam turbine to generate additional amounts of electric power. By pairing the two different generating technologies together — gas combustion and the steam turbines — a significant improvement in maximum operating efficiency and energy output is achieved.
Course Content
You will learn to:
- Recognize the history and hurdles that were overcome to develop a commercially viable CCPG unit
- List the various components, and their functions, in a CCPG facility
- Distinguish how efficient CCPG is compared to other types of generation
- Point out how and where CCPG is growing and the catalysts driving this increasing usage
- Identify the threats to greater CCPG market penetration and the new approaches to its use ensuring it remains a viable power producing technology
