Aromatics Technology and Markets (ON-DEMAND) - ATM
Course Summary
Aromatics Technology and Markets is an online training course that provides an overview of aromatics. However, participants should already have some previous knowledge of refining chemistry and the basics of petroleum refining before taking this course.
When we use the term ‘aromatics’, we are talking about cyclic structure, chemical compounds derived from petroleum, natural gas and coal. In other words they are chemicals derived from carbon.
Aromatic compounds comprise three of the seven basic compounds that are the basis for all petrochemicals, and these seven are often called the ‘building blocks’ for the petrochemical industry or more colloquially the ‘Seven Sisters’. They can be divided into three categories - olefins, aromatics, and natural gas-based compounds. In this course, we will examine aromatics in detail.
Course Content
You will learn to:
- Identify the final products produced from aromatic-based compounds
- Point out where aromatics come from and list the products they make
- Recognize the value chains and derivatives of the aromatics business
Practice exercises and self-assessment quizzes are included to help reinforce key topics introduced throughout the course.
A comprehensive final test will be given at the end of the course.
